March 19, 2012 · by Willona Stallings, Former Program Coordinator – Partners in Health & Wholeness

By Richmond County Daily Journal

The Pee Dee Baptist Educational Congress, an auxiliary to the Pee Dee Baptist Educational Association, will conduct the Annual Christian Educational Institute from March 19 to 23, 2012, at the Pee Dee Educational Building in Dobbin Heights.

There will be classes for church officers and each department in the church.

Sessions will begin each evening at 7 p.m. Highlights for the week include the opening message on Monday evening presented by the pastor of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Rockingham. Reverend John Kirkpatrick, IV, and the mass choir will render the music.

Joy Williams, consultant from North Carolina Council of Churches’ Partners in Health and Wholeness Initiative, will conduct a workshop on Tuesday, March 20. Ms. Latangela Hyman, representative from Urban Ministries, will present a Vacation Bible School workshop on Wednesday evening. On Thursday evening, the Oratorical Director, Dorothy McDowell, will present all the necessary information for youth who will become participants in the Local and State Oratorical Contest.

The Institute will close with a feast and fellowship banquet with a final message from Jamale Johnson, Dean of the General Baptist State Congress in Raleigh.

Mary Swann serves as President of the Pee Dee Congress of Christian Education. Yvonne McGraw serves as the Dean of the Congress. Everyone is invited to participate in these learning experiences.

About Willona Stallings, Former Program Coordinator – Partners in Health & Wholeness

Partners in Health and Wholeness (PHW) connects congregations with existing resources in the community and provides them with the tools necessary (sometimes in the form of mini-grants) to implement healthier practices, policies and programs. I live in Raleigh and enjoy good food, area greenways and bargain shopping.
