A New PHW Initiative for North Carolina Churches
Begin a journey with us toward Abundant Life…
How we care for our bodies and our souls is also how we should care for our minds.
Through our initiative, we will begin a journey of communal study, reflection, and training that will lead congregations to discern where God is calling them to impact mental health and emotional well-being in their communities.
Join our Abundant Life Initiative on a journey toward becoming a trauma-informed mental health and wellbeing hub.
A Mental Health Hub can be thought of as a trauma-informed movement within a congregation or community where people can:
- Access support for mental wellbeing resources, speakers, workshops, and compassionate guidance tailored to their needs, including trauma-informed care.
- Feel safe and welcome to discuss mental health concerns openly, free from stigma, knowing they are supported in an environment that understands the complexities of trauma and healing.
- Connect with mental health professionals and community resources through trusted partnerships bringing together faith-based compassion with professional mental health expertise.
- Engage in prevention-focused programs and mental health education that equip individuals and families with tools to recognize and address mental health challenges early, including strategies for managing stress and trauma.
- Learn to integrate health of mind, body, and spirit, creating a balanced approach to wellness that honors the whole person and the interconnectedness of their journey.
In essence, it’s a commitment to a way of life that prioritizes wholeness, trauma-sensitive support, community connection, and abundant living. Through this comprehensive approach, the hub fosters an environment where wellbeing leads to welldoing, inspiring a resilient community rooted in compassion that radiates healing and hope.
