The Importance of Boundaries
Presenter: Dr. Tonya Armstrong
Because we as persons of faith are formed with purpose and called into a life of service, developing skills in establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries is especially important for our faith journey. This interactive session will define and describe boundaries, demonstrate Scriptural support for boundaries, and provide practical examples of how we can enact healthy boundaries in our daily lives.
Mourn with those who Mourn: Creating Congregational Grief Ministries
Presenters: Chaplain Lisa DeCandia, Community Grief Coalition and Kimberly Franco Gilbert
As clergy and congregations journey alongside people experiencing grief, it’s essential to know how to communicate, manage one’s emotions, and intentionally mourn with those who mourn. In this session, presenters will share best practices as you create or sustain grief ministries that are safe spaces for emotional support, story sharing, and spiritual guidance. Both presenters provide grief education and support to the community through their work with the Community Grief Coalition, providing resources and supporting the development of outreach to meet the needs of those experiencing grief. After the suicide of her brother, Kimberly Gilbert founded One Common Bond to provide grief support to those affected by sudden and tragic death.
