The Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counsels Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers about Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, and long-term care insurance.
Who: The Department of Insurance, in which SHIIP is housed, has trained experts who can answer questions about health, life, Medicare, homeowners, auto, disability, and other types of insurance coverage.
What: SHIIP helps consumers understand insurance policies, file a complaint or appeal with their insurance company, find contact information for an insurance company, and much more.
When: SHIIP’S toll free line is available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
Where: This program is exclusive to North Carolina and serves all counties here.
