Seeds of Solidarity Education Center is a non-profit organization in Orange, MA that “awakens the power of youth, schools, and families to Grow Food Everywhere to transform hunger to health, and create resilient lives and communities.”
Who : Seeds of Solidarity was founded by Ricky Baruc and Deb Habib.
What: Seeds of Solidarity is an abandoned land transformed into a bountiful farm.
Where: The organization is based at Seeds of Solidarity Farm, a 30 acre site at 165 Chestnut Hill Road in Orange, MA within the North Quabbin region.
Why: Seeds of Solidarity was created with the purpose to design human scale, low polluting alternatives to super technology and to design and test intensive food growing methods. The founders got to carry out this mission when the flooding of four towns and a fertile valley took out most the region’s agricultural land.
How: Through the transformation of abandoned land into a bountiful farm, working with our neighbors to initiate a flourishing festival, and establishing innovative education programs, Seeds of Solidarity is helping to revitalize the region.
