NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)

National mental health organization that is made up of hundreds of smaller local and state groups that exist in order to help support the millions of people that are affected by mental illness and their loved ones. Many local groups offer a support group for loved ones that have mental illness.

Who: Anyone

What: Local charters and state charters

Where : Most midsize and larger cities but many counties have a charter as well

Why: This is a national, grassroots effort to better the lives of millions of Americans

When: Typically monthly with special events to bring awareness

How: www.nami.org to find your closest chapter. The NAMI helpline is 1-800-950-NAMI
