Burke County North Carolina Senior Services

Providing a focal point for aging resources, as well as, opportunities designed to extend independent living and enrich the quality of life for older adults in Burke County.

Two Senior Center Locations:

  • Burke Senior Center in Morganton
  • East Burke Senior Center in Hildebran.

Nutrition Services:

  • Home Delivered Meals
    • The Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels) Program provides a meal to home-bound older adults 60 years of age or older. The meals provide one-third of the recommended daily dietary allowance and are delivered by trained volunteers.
    • Receiving Meals on Wheels allows the older adult to reside in their own home and maintain a sense of independency while receiving a well-balanced meal.
  • Classy Seniors Congregate Nutrition Program
    • The Classy Seniors Congregate Nutrition Program’s mission is to promote, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of older adults through the provision of nutritionally balanced meals with fellowship and fun activities in order to enhance the older adult’s ability to remain independent.
    • Services are provided 5 days a week to adults 60 years of age and older who desire the opportunity to gain daily social interaction through community involvement. This group meets 8 a.m. to noon, Mondays through Friday at the Teacher’s Cottage in Valdese.

Burke County Senior Services provides activities, programs, and services to individuals 55 years of age and older, including:

  • Cards- Bridge, Hand and Foot, etc.
  • Caregivers Support Group

  • Choraleers
  • Creative Crafting
  • Exercise Equipment

  • Jewelry Making
  • Knitting-Crochet
  • Lap Quilting
  • Line Dancing
  • Medicare Counseling
  • Notary Services
  • Painting
  • Telephone Assurance of Burke (TAB) program
  • Wood Shop
