SUMMARY:Sacred Conversation Practical Peace: Transforming Health from the Roots Up
DESCRIPTION:Insights from the field of Peace and Conflict Studies can inform our ongoing pursuit of health-related justice in our congregations and communities. Join us to gain practical tools to pivot from injustice to the beloved community through lasting transformation. \nKrista Westervelt is a senior Peace and Conflict Studies major and Gerontology minor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is currently completing her Senior Practicum in Peace and Conflict Studies here at PHW. Krista’s academic interests include investigating the role grassroots interfaith and ecumenical initiatives play in addressing cultural and structural violence\, as well as researching and addressing racial\, gender and economic disparities across the life course. Prior to beginning her practicum with PHW\, Krista served the Chatham County Council on Aging as the organization’s Development and Communications Director. She is a member of The Community Church of Chapel Hill Unitarian Universalist. \n\nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Wild Goose Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Wild Goose Festival is a 4-day art\, music\, and story-driven transformational experience grounded in faith-inspired social justice. Come to not only learn from incredible speakers\, but also to engage in robust and respectful conversation with thought leaders\, writers\, dreamers\, artists\, visionaries\, and social justice activists. The 2018 collection of co-creaters includes Jen Hatmaker\, Jon Pavlovitz\, Jacqui Lewis\, Amy Grant\, and civil rights icon Ruby Sales. \nLooking for a summer weekend event for your youth group? Wild Goose has special event pricing to make attendance as accessible as possible for youth groups. Located in the middle of this festival of co-creation\, faith\, and spiritually fueled fellowship is a youth tent that will provide programming on subjects that matter to teens. Few other events speak so much to the passions of teenagers in the church with open conversations about gender identity\, active collaboration on faith inspired justice work\, and authentic open dialogue on the topics that matter to them most. Click here for more information about the Wild Goose for youth. \nClick here to purchase your tickets.
