The Iredell Council on Aging

The mission of Iredell Council on Aging is to improve the quality of life of Iredell Seniors through the provision of services in the home and community. The Iredell Council on Aging (COA) is the lead agency in Iredell County for aging services.

Programs and Services:

  • Two Senior Centers
    • Each features a variety of programs and services, including health and wellness activities, education programs, clubs, support groups, health screenings, and more.

      • South Iredell Senior Center (Mooresville)
  • Transportation
    • Transportation is available to older adults 60 & over with no other means of getting to their destination.
    • Offered in partnership with Iredell County Area Public Transit (ICATS)
  • Nutrition Programs
    • Congregate Meals
      • Meals are served to older adults Monday through Friday at congregate (group) sites. Over 100 participants enjoy activities, fellowship, and a hot, lunch-time meal.
        • Sites include:
          • Central UMC, Mooresville
          • Harmony UMC, Harmony
          • Summit Village Community Center, Statesville
          • Troutman Baptist, Troutman
      • The program hours are 9:30 am -12:30 pm. A hot meal is served at 11:00 am.
      • The activities start at 10:00 am. Each day is something different. Bingo, Devotions, Arts & Crafts, Guest Speakers, Senior Exercises, Scheduled Blood Pressure Checks…just to name a few.
      • You are welcome to drive to the program or they can arrange for the senior’s nutrition van to pick you up
      • Meals are based on donations only. If you can make a donation, it helps purchase a meal for someone else. No one is ever turned down because of not making contributions.
    • Home-Delivered Meals
      • Home-delivered meals are available in Mooresville, Statesville, and Harmony within the serving area.
      • Clients must be homebound because of a physical or mental condition except for medical appointments. They must live alone or not have anyone in the home who is willing or able to prepare meals.
      • Volunteers deliver the meals Monday thru Friday.
  • In-Home Services
    • Personal Care
    • Chore Services
  • Caregiver Support
    • Services and supports available for:
      • A caregiver of an older or disabled adult who is 60 years old or older: daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, spouses, same sex partners, close friends, & neighbors.
      • A grandparent or relative that is at least 55 years of age and caring for a young child or an adult with a developmental disability.
      • A person caring for an individual of any with Alzheimer’s or related dementia.
  • Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)
  • Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
