One-Woman Show Kicks Off Breastfeeding Collaborative

May 27, 2014 · by Marnie Cooper Priest, Former Project Director for the Breastfeeding Collaborative

The Partners in Health and Wholeness Breastfeeding Collaborative kicks off with a performance by Anita Woodley of her one-woman show, “Mama Juggs.”

Woodley is a nationally renowned local performer and former producer of WUNC-FM’s “The Story.” Her show about breastfeeding and the health of women and children is a fiercely funny, powerful experience that incorporates true stories about real women. Woodley works constantly in the community tackling food insecurities and health disparities in a non-traditional, theatrical way by creating programming through the nonprofit projects she’s co-founded: Grocers on Wheels and Raindownus.org. Learn more about her on her website.

The Breastfeeding Collaborative is a project of Partners in Health and Wholeness, an initiative of the NC Council of Churches. The Collaborative helps Wake County congregations to be breastfeeding-friendly by providing support, resources and mini-grants for creating comfortable spaces for women to breastfeed.

The event is free and open to the public. It takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at Martin Street Baptist Church, 1001 E Martin Street in Raleigh and is co-sponsored by Partners in Health and Wholeness, the NC Council of Churches and the Martin Street Baptist Health and Wellness Ministry. Refreshments will be served and a Q & A will follow.
