SUMMARY:Creating Healthier Food Pantries Workshop and Lunch
DESCRIPTION:What can congregations and emergency food providers do to ensure our food pantries and donations both feed and adequately nourish people who are experiencing food insecurity? Many food-pantry users are battling one or more chronic diseases and foods commonly given out at food pantries are high in salt and sugar and are lacking in important disease-fighting nutrients. \nRegistered dietitians from the Partnership for Community Care will discuss their Healthy Food Pantry Program and encourage you to think “outside of the donation box” with ideas for creating your own healthy food packages. Partners in Health and Wholeness will share about other resources available to equip faith communities with the ability to address these needs. The event is free\, but please register here to be included in the count for lunch. For more information email Shannon Axtell Martin at shannon@ncchurches.org or call 336-912-0976.
