SUMMARY:Sacred Conversation: Mental Health Month
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate and kick off Mental Health Month with the Rev. Dr. Garry Crites\, Executive Director of National Alliance on Mental Illness NC (NAMI NC)! Our faith traditions provide some of the greatest tools available for helping those who deal with mental health conditions and their loved ones. Unfortunately\, they also serve as the source of some of the worst stigmas endured by these same dear people. In this session\, we will talk about both the possibilities and the challenges at the intersection between religion and mental health\, and we will discuss how we\, in our faith traditions\, can get it right. We will also learn about the many resources that NAMI NC provides. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Faith and Health Connection: The Science of Water
DESCRIPTION:“Water is the soul of the Earth.” – W. H. Auden \nJoin us for the first of four Environment\, Health and Faith focused Faith and Health Connection events.  For this first Faith and Health Connection: The Science of Water\, we will explore the vital importance of water for life and survival. We’ll be joined by science experts\, Nicole Esch: Director of Crowd the Tap and Dr Caren Cooper: Associate Professor NCSU Forestry and Environmental Resources\, who will walk us through the importance of water locally in North Carolina. What does it mean to be caretakers of our waters? (Remember Flint)” \nPartners in Health and Wholeness is excited about this new pilot project and offering the opportunity for faith communities to explore the intersections of environment\, faith and health. During this Faith and Health Connection we’ll introduce the team from our partners. Courtney has translated her passion for nursing practice into nursing education and research and she is currently an Assistant Professor at the East Carolina University College of Nursing. Her career commitment is to improve the health outcomes of women at risk for or living with HIV by examining and addressing the social and economic determinants of their health. She is dedicated to using community-engaged research methods\, reducing HIV-related stigma\, and ensuring women of diverse backgrounds are included in her research. Courtney’s current federally funded research project aims to increase HIV care engagement and medication adherence among women living with HIV. When Courtney is not teaching or doing research\, she enjoys spending her time with family and friends and visiting the North Carolina mountains\, where she was raised. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Sacred Conversations: Caretakers of Creation Part II: Faith and The Environment Q&A
DESCRIPTION:We are doing things a little differently for the second Sacred Conversations in our series on faith\, health and the environment. We invite you to join us as we hear from Sarah Ogletree\, Program Coordinator for North Carolina Interfaith Power and Light\, on her experiences working at the intersection of faith and the environment. What’s different? Sarah will answer questions from you; the questions you don’t want to ask\, or feel like it’s the wrong time to ask or the questions that you think will make you feel like the only one in the room who doesn’t know the right answers. \nAs we explore practical ways to engage with our environment as good caretakers our hope is that we can create a space and time where we all get to ask our questions out loud and share our collective knowledge. Bring your questions June 25 11 am and/or submit your questions early here. This Sacred Conversations is an extension of the newly updated Partners in Health and Wholeness Sustainability Pledge as we seek to highlight the intersection of health\, faith and the environment. \nClick here to register

SUMMARY:Sacred Conversations: Caretakers of Creation: A Vision for Shalom in Practical Ways
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to be caretakers of creation when we ourselves are a part of creation\, and where do we start when we know that the environments in which we live greatly impact the health of our communities? How do we know what is most important in our advocacy efforts? How do we confront the structural injustices that disproportionately affect historically marginalized communities? Join us as we explore practical ways to engage with our environment as good caretakers in ways that increase our awareness of what we can do and how we can advocate as people of faith both individually and collectively. \nThis Sacred Conversations is an extension of the newly updated Partners in Health and Wholeness Sustainability Pledge as we seek to highlight the intersection of health\, faith and the environment. \n  \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER
