SUMMARY:Sacred Conversations: Caretakers of Creation: A Vision for Shalom in Practical Ways
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to be caretakers of creation when we ourselves are a part of creation\, and where do we start when we know that the environments in which we live greatly impact the health of our communities? How do we know what is most important in our advocacy efforts? How do we confront the structural injustices that disproportionately affect historically marginalized communities? Join us as we explore practical ways to engage with our environment as good caretakers in ways that increase our awareness of what we can do and how we can advocate as people of faith both individually and collectively. \nThis Sacred Conversations is an extension of the newly updated Partners in Health and Wholeness Sustainability Pledge as we seek to highlight the intersection of health\, faith and the environment. \n  \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:Sacred Conversations: Becoming a Trauma-Informed Faith Community (Part II)
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the next part of our Sacred Conversations series\, on Friday\, July 24 at 11am via Zoom. This will be part two of our two-part series titled “Becoming a Trauma-Informed Faith Community.” This will be a continuation of part one\, from June 26 (recording available on our YouTube page here)\, where we defined what trauma-informed care and ministry is. We will continue to explore ways that a faith community can address trauma\, and by doing so\, become a more welcoming and comfortable space for people of all experiences. We will learn from Dr. Dawn Baldwin Gibson\, who pastors trauma-informed ministries in Eastern NC.  \nPastor Dawn is the Executive Pastor of Peletah Ministries and Superintendent of the Peletah Academic Center for Excellence\, places of intentional growth where congregants and students are encouraged to process their experiences and find faith in a safe and welcoming space. Both of these ministries are culturally competent and trauma-informed in practice. Pastor Dawn will guide our conversation deeper and share ways to put trauma-informed care into practice in your faith communities and greater communities. \nClick here to register.\nWe look forward to learning with you!
